[58397] Edward may have lived in Sangamon Co., IL around 1830 because there was a land purchase there for 160 acres on May 16, 1831 where the address of the purchaser was Sangamon Co., IL. Over the next ten years Edward purchased huge quantities of land in Will, Grundy, Dupage and Cook Counties, most of which he resold.

He married in Cook Co., IL in 1842.

He may be related to the successful farmer James McConnell who came to Sangamon after he left. James McConnell was also an immigrant from Ireland and he named his oldest son Edward McConnell. James McConnell was the father of John McConnell, a major general in the Civil War.

In 1870 Edward was a retired real estate agent. His real estate was worth $225,000, and his personal estate worth $10,000. He was one of the wealthiest McConnells in his time.
