[40364] 1860 Census, Abington, Luzerne Co., PA
She was in the household of a clergyman named John C. Sherman, age 46, b. R.I, and his wife Ruth, 45, b. PA, working as a domestic, she was 15 years old.
The 1860 census shows she was born in New Jersey. I could not locate either John C. Sherman or his family or Catherine McConnell in the 1850 census. She may be the Frances McConnell living with Mary Miller in 1850. Per a descendant, the family was so poor, the first children were given up for adoption to other families.

Lackawanna County was created out of Luzerne County, PA in 1878.
