Enlisted in Company B, 82nd Infantry Regiment Ohio on 19 Dec 1861.
Died from wounds Company B, 82nd Infantry Regiment Ohio on 5 Aug 1864 at Nashville, TN.




While there is not a clear record of his death, he mustered out in August 1864, eight months before the war ended. His mother applied for pension benefits one month after he mustered out. Probably this was for funeral expenses. There is no further record of William F. McConnell. So he probably died around September 1864 of an injury that he could not recover from.
