Buried on the 25th, in the Mennonite cemetery. Funeral services by Philip Nice and C.C. Snavely. Text: 1 Thess. 4:13, 14. He leaves a widow and 3 children to mourn their loss, 4 children have preceded him to the spirit world. He united with the Mennonite church in the year 1864, and remained a faithful member of the church of Christ militant until he peaceably fell asleep in Jesus, and was called to join the church of Christ triumphant in the reign of glory.

John W. McConnell, 68 years old, 224 West street, was found dead in a chair Friday morning at his home by his wife, Mrs. Irene McConnell. He had been treated for heart trouble. He was born at Monroe, Wis., and had resided in Rockford about 40 years. He last was employed as a helper by the Red Line Transfer company. Besides the widow, he is survived by three brothers, Oscar, James and Oran McConnell, all of Rockford.
