Per Knox Genealogy:
John Knox began business as an innkeeper in Blandford in 1757.
He "is frequently mentioned in Blandford records, both town and church,
as surveyor of highways, assessor of taxes, and as Deacon and Elder in
the church. His will is dated July 1, 1796, and proved November 25,
1800. He calls himself "of advanced age," mentions daughter Sarah,
wife of John Ferguson; daughter Rachel, wife of Robert King; gives to
each of his children $20.00, except to Elijah against whom he holds a
note out of which this bequest must be taken. Son John to execute."
"John Knox inherited his father's homestead which was burned in
1784. It is said the house was rebuilt, a duplicate of the original,
and is still standing." Note: this was written in the 1920s.
