[9590] Hello Scott, After you called I looked in mom's (Bessie McConnell) Bible and I
hit the jackpot. I found Great Granddad's obituary. He was born in Brown County
Ohio July 3, 1824. He died children none of them named. His name was Washington
McConnell. The paper (obituary) is awful yellow and a long one. You can read it
when you come back. I also found Aunt Muade's (McConnel 27, 1920 age 33 years
2 Months and 19 days and is buried in Mt. Vernon Cemetery (MO?).

Grandad's brothers as far as I know Lewis, Tom and Ruben. A lot of this is
written down more than once hope you can make sense of it. Ruben has a Grand
daughter at La Plata named Jaunita McCarty.

My dad was married twice Lucy Mae (Boring)Norfolk she died. They had a duaghter
Hazel (Mrs Lawrence Elliott).

This is sort of fun trying to figure it all out for an old lady. Ha.

George and Lucy McConnell had four children as you know. Maude, Bessie Mae,
Bill (William) & Albert. Aunt Maude is burried in IL (Mt. Vernon cemetery).

Grandad Orchard was a methodist preather and harness maker. They came from
England on a boat. Grandma (Bessie) was 4 years old when they came to the
states and Lucy, Bessie. Lily (spelled wrong) Nellie, Amy, William Orchard [I
believe he (William) married Alice Huling., twins died as babies.

Grandad McConnell (George Washington McConnell) was one of ten children the
best that I can figure out. Here are the ones I know: Tom, Lewis, Ruben, and
there was a Rodah (Rhoda?) I bet she was a sister.

Washington lived in Brown County Ohio 1824-circa 1830, he lived in Marion
County, Indiana. In 1860 he lived in Hancock County, Indiana and his brother
John lived nearby in Shelby County, Indiana. An Elizabeth McConnell 69 years
was living with John in Shelby Co. (Could this be Washington and John's
mother?) Washington and his family moved to Adair County, Missouri in Wilson
Township near Wilson Town in 1868.

Both Washington & Mary Ann are burried at Wilson Town Cemetery. Washington's
stone long been lost but Mary Ann's is still there.
