Emigrates to US 1792 with 9 Children
In 1805 Fr Galitzen legally made adoption of Francis's children, they were raised by Arthur and subsequently listed with him in census reports.
By 1805 Francis McConnell was deceased and Fr. Gallitzin alias Smith had petitioned the Somerset Co. PA court for guardianship of the minor orphan children of Francis McConnell.
1810 census Arthur McConnell was living in Loretto, Cambria Co. PA close to Fr. Gallitzin residence.
Petition...You believe concerning 6 orphan children under my care/over which their relatives would wish me to be appointed guardian. These names and ages are as follows: Susan McConnell between, 10 & 11,Sarah McConnell between 7 & 8, Elizabeth McConnell between 6 & 7,Francis McConnell between 5 & 6, Anna McConnell between 4 & 5, Hugh McConnell between1 & 2
Concerning all children of Francis & Sara Shields McConnell now deceased.
February 11, 1805 The Court appointed the Rev Augustine Smith guardian over the persons of the above named minor children of Francis McConnell now deceased
