Hiram was born in 1824 while his parents were living in Poland Twp, Trumbull (now Mahoning Co.), OH. He moved to Mercer Co. with his parents and met his wife. They were married in New Castle, but later returned back to Mercer Co. after spending some time in Venango Co. Their three boys were born in Mercer County.
He was in the 1850 census, Cool Spring, Mercer Co., PA.
