in 1804 John McConnell was listed in a tax list as a resident proprietor of the Connecticut Western Reserve lands, Township 1, Range 1, which was Poland Twp, with 95 acres.
Per his will written on August 19, 1812:
He bequethed to his wife Jane all of his estate.
To his son Nicholas and his wife, he gave the right to use his estate and appurtenances.
When his son Richard comes of age, he is to be given a share of the property.
When his son Eli comes of age, he is to be given a share of the property.
All three sons eventually to receive an equal share of the property.
To daughter Elizabeth McConnell, a horse, a saddle, $60, bedding, etc.
Nicholas McConnell and John Struthers were appointed executors.
Gilbert Buchanan, Robert Lowery and Joseph Cowen were witnesses.
This will was recorded in Probate Record Book 1, Page 321.
In September 1812 the will was proved in court: Probate Record Book 1, Page 319.
In 1817, per the tax list of that year, Nicholas and Richard held equal shares of their father's property.
