George was one of the first settlers in Scott Co., VA. He represented Scott Co. one term in the lower house of the general assembly of VA., became a regular ordained minister in the Methodist Church, and at the division of the church, identified himself with the southern branch. His half sister Nancy Anna McConnell moved with him to VA from PA around the year 1800.
