Came to America on brigantine "Nancy" in Aug 1746.
Indentured to George Sanderson 12 Aug 1746 for 7 yr. to pay passage. Terms "aprentice" and "servant" in the indenture papers indicate a young adult without specific skills. This leads to a guess that, in 1746, he could have been as young as 15 or 16 and as old as 25 or 30. My guess is that he was born about 1728.
1790 Census, Lebanon Twp, Dauphin Co., PA
1 M 16+ (George), 1 M 0-16 (Johann).
2 F (Regina, Elizabeth).
George Sanderson was 1st town clerk of Lancaster from 1742-43. Was assistant clerk 1757-58. He was also an Inn Keeper, farmer, coppersmith and owner of Negro slaves.
George McConnell lived near "The America House", the Inn of Caspar Schnebeli (Snavely). Later two sons of George McConnell married two daughters of Casper Snavely.
George signed his will May 8, 1793 and witnesses appeared in probate court August 30,1793.
George took the Oath of Alegience May 30, 1778. George McConnell received credit for Revolutionary service for hauling ammunition and on one occasion hauled arms for guards of prisoners.
Many people think that George McConnell and Barbara Kornman that married in Lancaster, Pa., September 2, 1766 are this George and Eva. I do not think that is correct.
