[32288] Obituary Xenia Daily Gazette July 18, 1904: Mrs. Amanda McConnell Horne was relieved from all earthly suffering by death on Sabbath evening (7/17) at 6:30 o'clock. The end came peacefully at her home on East Main Street. Mrs. Horne had not enjoyed good health for a great many years and for the seven months prior to her death she had been confined to her bed, suffering from a complication of diseases. At the last, uremic poisoning developed and for a week before her death she had been unconscious. Mrs. Horne was born in Kanauha county, West Virginia and with her widowed mother, Mrs. McConnell, was brought to this section when she was two years old. The family resided on a farm near Xenia, but Mrs. Horne was practically a life long resident of the city and had she lived until Sept. 21st next she would have been 80 years old. Her husband was John R. Horne who died 20 years ago. Mrs. Horne was the last one of her family. She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Nannie Stevenson of Jamestown, Misses Malissa, Amanda, and and Cora Horne, who resided at home with their mother. Misses Malissa and Amanda being the managers of the Green Street Exchange. The deceased was a member of the Trinity M.E. Church of this city. The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 0'clock at the residence and the burial, which will be later, will be private.
