The following is from: DESCENDANTS OF BENJAMIN MANNING Provided 23 April 2003 by FRANK MANNING
Website address: http://www.lindapages.com/marshall/bmanning.txt
Generation No. 1
1. BENJAMIN6 MANNING (BENJAMIN5, ISRAEL4, BENJAMIN3, JEFFREY2, JOHN1) was born 1748 probably in Peapack area of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, and died Bef. 1830 in Ohio County (Now Marshall County,) Virginia (now West Virginia.) He married MELISON. She was born 1750 in New Jersey, and died Unknown. Children of BENJAMIN MANNING and MELISON are:

4. iii. SAMUEL MANNING, b. August 26, 1786; d. Bef. 1840. Generation No. 2
Notes for MELISON JANE MANNING: Early Marriages in Ohio WV Court House Moses Chapline, Clerk His Record Book Ohio Co, Virginia, 1793 The marriages appear to have been by Presbyterian circuit rider serving congregations in Washington and Fayette Counties, Pennsylvania. 6/24/1796 John Martain (sic) and Millison Manning by John Brice
Children of MELISON MANNING and JOHN MARTIN are:
5. i. MARGARET8 MARTIN, b. 1798, Wetzel, Virginia; d. Unknown.
6. ii. BENJAMIN MARTIN, b. 1800, Tyler, Virginia; d. 1879. 7.
iii. REUBEN MARTIN, b. December 28, 1802, Ohio, Virginia; d. 1890. 8.
iv. SQUIRE DILLE MARTIN, b. February 12, 1805; d. March 03, 1868, Marshall County, West Virginia.
v. PRESLEY MARTIN, b. 1806; d. Unknown.
9. vi. LUCINDA MARTIN, b. November 25, 1806, Wetzel, Virginia; d. April 16, 1852.
10. vii. MANNING MARTIN, b. July 06, 1810; d. September 14, 1875, buried in Tyler County, West Virginia.
11. viii. SIMEON MARTIN, b. 1813; d. 1893.
In the 1820 census record in Tyler County, VA for John Martin had five daughters. The census taker didnt put any girls in the 10-16 column consistently if you look at all the entries on this page and subsequent pages. But there were five girls and only two of them are listed in the genealogy. There is a gap around the year 1808. Since we dont have any better information, it is a safe guess that Phebys last name was Martin and that John Martin and Mellison Manning are her parents. Pheby is one of the three missing girls.
