George McConnell bought for $140; 23 1/2 acres of land "on the waters of Buffalo Creek" in Washington Co., part of a tract granted by patent to Thomas Urie which was named The Constitution.
On September 19, 1806 there was a deed recorded in Jefferson County, Ohio for George McConnell and Phebe McConnell.
This land was in what would become Orange Twp, Ashland Co., Ohio. It was later inherited by George's sons including: William, Thomas, George, and John.

"First I give and bequeth unto my beloved wife Pheby one feather bedstead and bedding, one dresser, all kitchen furniture, one sorrel mare, one side saddle, one cow her own choice, also the one thirds of the profits arising from the mansion farm whereon I now live during her natural life, I also give and bequeth unto my oldest son William my rifle gun and sixty acres of land in the State of Ohio to be laid off on the West side of the South East quarter of No. 12. in Township No. 23. In Range 16. I also give and bequeth unto my son Thomas McConnell one dollar, I also give and bequeth unto my eldest daughter Elizabeth McConnell, one feather bed, bedsted and bedding, one womans saddle, one cow, one bureau, one breakfast table, one pot, one bake oven, one set of teaware, six plates, six knives and forks, one spinning wheel, and one promissory note on James Clemens State of Ohio for one hundred dollars due in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty three; I also give and devise unto my son John McConnell, thirty dollars to be paid out of my personal estate, and likewise one quarter section of land situate in the State of Ohio, being the North East quarter of Section No. 11. in Township No. 23. Range 16. I also give and devise to my son George McConnell one small brown mare three years old past and likewise one hundred acres of land situate in the State of Ohio. It being part of the South West quarter of Section No. 12 in Township No. 23. and Range 16. with the encumbrance of eight dollars to be paid into the lands office and to be equally paid by the said John and George McConnell on the Quarter that is in Section No. 12. and the said John and George McConnell is to have the privledge of farming the mansion place I now live on to make the said eighty dollars so as to leave as much grain as will Support the stock and family and the three installments thats is to pay on Section No. 11 is to be on obligations I have on James Clemens State of Ohio. I also bequeth to my daughter Mary McConnell, one spinning wheel, I also bequeth unto my son James McConnell, one black horse colt one year past, also what few carpenter tools I own; I also give and bequeth unto my daughter Susannah McConnell on red and white heffer, I also give unto my daughter Ann McConnell one red heffer, and the said Susannah and Ann is to have all the bed and bedding at my death; I also give and bequeth unto my youngest son David McConnell two volumes of Brown's Dictionaries of the Bible; I also bequeth unto my grandson George McConnell my loaded whip, and at the death of my beloved Wife Pheby McConnell I devise that the Plantation that I now live on be sold at public sale and the monies arising from said sale is to be paid in the following manner; my son James McConnell is to get seven hundred dollars / and my daughter Susannah McConnell is to get three hundred dollars, and my daughter Ann McConnell is to get three hundred dollars, and my youngest son David McConnell is to get eight hundred dollars, and the balance of monies from said sales is to be divided equally between my sons Willliam McConnell and Thomas McConnell, daughter Elizabeth McConnell, son John McConnell, daughter Mary McConnell & son George McConnell, and farther I do bequeth unto my wife Pheby McConnell one britton horse, one plough and harrow and gears sufficient to farm with, one heffer her own choice, ten sheep, five hogs, one chest of drawers, one loom and tacklings and one table and six chairs & whatever geese is on my plantation at my death, one large bible, and my Wife Pheby is to have full privlege off the new house and lot and the full management of the place I now live on to farm or rent as she so pleases for her benefit and the benefit of James, Susannah, Ann and David McConnell, notwithstanding the said premises is to be kept in repair... Executors: Pheby McConnell and Daniel McGugin. Thomas McKeever and John Buchanon were witnesses.
