Per a history of Elizabeth Twp, the first settlers were named Applegate and Wall, both from New Jersey, who arrived in 1766. Here is a link to a history of Elizabeth Twp: http://www.elizabethboro.com/html/history.html
The following settlers arrived in 1768. Of these, descendants of Hugh Davidson, Adam McConnell and James Wilson all intermarried.
1768-Donald Munro, Hugh Davidson, James Halleday, James Terry, Richard Parker, John Reed, Samuel Devore, Abraham Miller, William McClure, Philip Rodgers, Robert Smith, Cornelius Thompson, Adam McConnell, James Wilson
The following 1769 deed for land in what would become Elizabeth Twp, Allegheny Co., PA, specifically states that Adam McConnell was the son of Robert McConnell.
April 3, 1769, land application. "Whereas, by virtue and pursuance of an order on Application 2491 entered the third day of April, 1769, by Adam, son of Robert McConnell, in the Township of [blank] and the County of [blank] two hundred and seventy seven acres and one hundred and twenty acres situated on the Youghogheny in the County of Westmoreland (Westmoreland was crossed out and above it was written "now Allegheny)." This warrant was paid in on March 19, 1805 at the rate of five pounds (dollars later) per hundred acres and the land was in Allegheny Co., PA by the time the warrant was paid.
Based on the date of this application, if Adam McConnell was 21, the legal age to own land then, in 1769, that would mean he was born at least as early as 1748. This would mean he was the oldest of Robert McConnell's children and this is what we would expect based on naming patterns since Robert McConnell's father was named Adam McConnell.

1 F 45+, 1 F 16-25, 2 F 10-15, 1 F 0-9 (Ann).
One source (probably a Wilson genealogy) has the children of Adam and Elly Moore as:
1 James McConnell, died Unknown; married Margaret Reynolds; died Unknown.
2 William McConnell, died 1858; married Elizabeth McConnell.
3 John W. McConnell, b. 1798.
4 Nancy McConnell, born May 20, 1793; died August 27, 1835; married John Zaccheus Willson December 29, 1814.
5. Jane McConnell, died Unknown; married James Willson; died 1858 in New Concord, Ohio.
6. Mary McConnell, died Unknown; married Elijah Patterson; died Unknown.
7 Ann McConnell, died Unknown; married John Irwin; died Unknown.
8 Robert McConnell, born 1805; died 1848 in Forks of the Yough, Pa; married Dinah Boyd; died Unknown in Forks of the Yough, Pa..
Per probate records, on December 1817, in Orphans Court, Volume 1, page 285, there were seven children living when Adam died, two of whom were minors: Ann and Robert. They were assigned John Robinson as guardian.
The executors were Ellis (Moore) McConnell, William McConnell and James McConnell. Probably Nancy was not included in the count as a child since she had married and was not living at home.
On March 19, 1805 he finalized his purchase of 277 acres and 120 acres for warrants made on April 3, 1769.
Adam died intestate in 1816. The administrators of the estate were Ellis (Elly, his wife), William and James McConnell.
In the Orphans Court Book 1, Page 281, it says: "Adam McConnell. An account of Alice [Ellis], James and William McConnell administrators of Adam McConnell, late of Elizabeth Township, deceased, as well of all rights of goods & chattel, right and credits, of the said deceased at the time of his death leaving a balance of in the hands of these recipients of $1,697.04 1/4 was exhibited... [unreadable].. and allowed passed. The Court.
