Robert McConnell married Nancy (Boyd) Wilson in 1750.
Nancys mother, Margaret Cowan, first married William Boyd and they had three children: Nancy, William and Mary. After Williams death, Margaret married John Wilson and they had 5 children making a total of eight children. For the full story see http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/d/e/e/Rebecca-S-Deepch andani/FILE/0004text.txt see Boyd - Wilson story.
Robert McConnell purchased land near his father Adam McConnell in Ayr Township before 1766.
In 1766 Pennsylvania Land Applications:
"Smith, Jno Peter August 1766 applies for 300 acres in Air Township bounded by Robert McConalle on East, by John McMeans on the North and by James Wilson and the Mountain on the Southwest. "
By the time of the 1772 tax list he is no longer listed as an owner.

Allegheny Co Monongahela Society
Rev. John Cuthbertson made his only recorded trip into Allegheny County and into Washington County in the fall of 1779, visiting the Society known as the Monogahela, distributed over a large area of country along the Monongahela and Youghiogheny Rivers, some twenty miles southeast of Pittsburgh, the central point of which was the Forks of the Yough. Perhaps the earliest settlement was in 1769, when James Wilson and his son Zaccheus left the Cover Mountain, east of the Alleghenies, and settled in this vicinity, moving to the Forks of the Yough the following year, accompanied by Robert McConnell. They were soon joined by the families of Robert and Matthew Jamison; Andrew McMeans and Matthew Mitchell
Robert McConnell was listed in Rostraver Township in the 1772 tax list. Rostraver Twp included Forward Twp, Allegheny Co., PA.
Some Pennsylvanians in 1772: Settlers in Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties From James Veach's The Monongahela of Old or Historical Sketches of Southwestern Pennsylvania to the Year 1800 (Pittsburgh, 1910 edition).
In 1772, and until Westmoreland County was established in 1773, Bedford County encompassed all of southwestern Pennsylvania. All of present Fayette County -- east of a straight line from the mouth of Redstone to the mouth of Jacob's Creek -- consisted of two townships, Springhill and Tyrone. Here, the division line was Redstone Creek, from its mouth to where it was crossed by Burd's Road, and from Burd's Road to Gist's, then Braddock's Road to the Great Crossing. That part of Fayette County, northwest of Redstone to the mouth of Jacob's Creek, was a part of Rostraver Township.
1790 Census, Elizabeth Twp, Allegheny Co., PA
3 M 16+ (Robert, Robert, Jr, Samuel), 1 M 0-16 (Joseph).
4 F (Nancy-- his wife, daughters Elizabeth, Nancy, Sarah)
In the 1791 tax list, he was one of three owners to pay the highest amount of tax-- 19.3 pounds. So he must have been almost the biggest landowner in Elizabeth Twp at the time.
1800 Census, Elizabeth Twp, Allegheny Co., PA
1 M 45+ (Robert).
1 F 45+ (Nancy), 1 F 16-26 (probably Mary)
Living next to him were his sons Robert McConnell Jr. , recently married, Samuel McConnell, and Joseph McConnell.
1810 Census, Elizabeth Twp, Allegheny Co., PA
2 M 45+ (Robert, unknown).
1 F 45+.
In 1813, he deeded his lands to his sons Joseph and Samuel, and died intestate after that, probably soon. There may have been an agreement among family members to pay those in the family who did not receive land since, per estate records of Robert McConnell, Jr., Joseph McConnell owed Robert McConnell's estate money at the time of Robert's death in 1822.
