[97200] In the 1875 Kansas STATE Cenus Arthur and Edward are listed as Merchants. The family had an Ice House business that burned down in 1885 per Coffeyville records. They also operated a grist mill in Independence, Montgomery County, Kansas called, "The Star Mill", and they may have been selling horses.

In 1889 Edward, his wife Emma and family moved to Washington State where they operated a ranch selling horses per my Dad. The family may have been involved in several business ventures in Kansas. They owned and operated a Ice House in Coffeyville, KS that burned down in 1885. Edward was also involved in the ownership with his family of a grist mill called the Star Mills.

Arthur's brother Edward E. McConnell was my great grandfather. Edward and Arthur were born in or near Belfast, Ireland. Edward was born May 19, 1839 and died Dec. 29, 1915 at his ranch, on Texas Creek east of Carlton, Okanogan County, Washington State. Edward is buried at Beaver Creek (Silver) Cemetery with his family, south of Twisp, Okanogan County, Washington State. When I was a teenager we used to hunt mule deer just west of the 2 story log home my grandfather Edward E. McConnell, Jr. and his father, my great grandfather Edward E. McConnell, Sr. built in the late 1800s. The house had running water. They raised horses on the property and sold them to locals. They also did some mining.
