Samuel Christy, the son of Julius Christy and Agatha Barnett, was calculated to have been born in 1783 in Greenbriar County, Virginia (now within West Virginia). In about 1785/86, Samuel moved with his parents to Kentucky, where they settled in Clark County. He later moved with his brother, James, to Fleming County, Kentucky in about 1798.
In 1803, Samuel and James both received personal property from their father, Julius Christy, by a recorded bill-of-sale. Samuel, who was a boot and shoemaker by trade, was later married in Fleming County to a woman named Mary "Polly" Day on 11 April 1805. Polly, who was born in about 1788, was the daughter of Truman Day and Mary Saunders.
After their marriage, Samuel and Mary remained in Kentucky until the late 1820's, at which time they moved to Greensburg in Decatur County, Indiana. Samuel and Mary are later found purchasing land in Decatur County, and in 1840 and 1850, they are also found on the census enumerations. Samuel died on 13 September 1855 at Greensburg, and was buried in the South Park Cemetery.
The offspring listed below as (female) was abstracted from the 1810 census of Kentucky. This is also believed to be one of Samuel and Polly's daughters, but has not been positively identified yet.
