[35867] From: "Wilcoxon Of Maryland-- A Preliminary Study"
By Donald Ray Barnes, Certified Genealogist
Prince George's County Genealogical Society Bulletin
February 1980, Vol. 11, No. 6, pp. 59-60.

"Thomas Wilcoxon Sr., born 1693-94 (1), died P.G. County, Maryland, 1777 (2).
He registered his mark in August 1723, (3) having previously, in 1721, sold
265 acres called "the Forrest" to Joseph Punnot. (4) As his wife did not
release her dower we may assume he had not yet married. Between 1735 and
1756 Thomas Wilcoxon Sr. and his wife Ruth (maiden name not known) bought
and sold various properites in P.G. County."

"Ruth Wilcoxon, born ca. 1703/03 (5), apparently died by 16 May 1779 as she
is not mentioned in here husband's inventory (6)."

"On 7 November 1740, Thomas Wilcoxon, Sr., planter, sold "Warwick" (100
acres) to Randolph Johnson, bricklayer, for L25 sterling of Great Britain.
Ruth Wilcoxon acknowledged (7)."

(2) Bonds, P.G. Co., Md., Box 87, HR, Annapolis.
(3) Deeds, P.G. col, Md., vol. I, p. 480.
(4) Ibid., pp. 122-124.
(5) See reference 1.
(6) Inventory, P.G. Co., Md., HR, Annapolis.
(7) Deeds, P.G. Co., Md., vol. Y, p. 259, HR, Annapolis.

From David Wilcoxon family records:
Thomas' and most of his children's birthdates were found in the National
Genealogical Society Quarterly, July 1917, v. 6, no. 2, p. 44. This article
states that they were written on the back of a land grant and land deed.
The land deed was dated 9-4-1723. The property was called "Coxen's Chance."
On this deed is written that Thomas is the son of John and Magdalen
Willcoxen. The original was written on sheepskin. Note the two ell's and
the 'en'.

Thomas married Ruth after 1721.

Thomas did not leave a will but there is an Administration Bond dated 16
May 1779.

There are NSDAR reference number for the following children:
Mary, John, Lewis, Willima, Jesse
