[40216] Article in The Horn Papers, Pennsylvania and Virginia handwritten excerpt in Hinerman file at Greene County Historical Society Library, Waynesburg, PA.

"George Hinerman, Sr., born in Hesse Cassel, Germany, in 1758, came to New York in January 1776 as a soldier in the British service. He was taken prisoner by Washington's army on Christmas night, 1776. He was released after four months, and in 1778, enlisted in the PA militia, serving in the American army for nearly two years. In 1785, he married and had three sons (incorrect); George, Jesse and William. He died in Aleppo Township in 1821."

Historians at Greene County Historical Society had picked out the following George from the list of Georg Heinemann's who were Hessian soldiers:

Georg Heinemann, born 1758-59, in the town of Eschwege in Hesse Kassel, rank of private, in the ERB4 unit (ErbPrinz -- prince-successor - Regiment; afte 1783, known as Prince Friedrich Regiment). Final status: Deserted to enemy.

1 M 45+ (George), 1 M 10-16 (Samuel?), 2 M 0-10 (George, Jesse).

Hinerman Cemetery
Aleppo Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.
This is a family cemetery located on the same ridge as the Wise (or Quiet Dell) Cemetery. This tombstone information was transcribed by the late Burl and Margaret Mackey of Aleppo Township in January 1972 and was published in a 1972 newsletter of the Greene County Historical Society.
