Marriage is recorded in Book 1, page 209. He purchased 40 acres of railroad land in Shelby Co on Nov 26, 1879. The price was $6.00 an acre. It was located at Section 20, Section NESE Township 10N, Range 02e, Meridian 3. Arch. Vol. No. 794. Vol page 288. In 1880 Census he was living with his sister, Mariah J. McConnell in the household of William H. Miligan.

Funeral to be Held at Home on South Fourth Stree Sunday Afternoon
B. McConnell for many years a resident of Shelbyville, died at his home on South Fourth St. Friday morning at 8:30 after an illness of a few weeks. Death was due to Bright's Disease.
B. McConnell was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Jacob McConnell of Cold Spring Township and was one of a family of ten children. He was born Feb. 6, 1856, in Cold Spring Township and grew to manhood there. He later moved to a farm in Flat Branch Township.
About forty years ago he came to Shelbyville where he has since resided. For thirty-five years he had charge of the street-sprinkling in Shelbyville as well as other business interests.
On March 31, 1884, Mr. McConnell was united in marriage to Miss Emma Berry of Montgomery County. There are three sons and three daughters who with the mother survive. Mrs. Homer Weakly, Mrs. Philip Kircher, Leverett, Lenoral, and Lloyd McConnell, all of Shelbyville, and Mrs. Clint Fader of Decatur. There are also nine grand-children.
Besides his wife and children there are left the following brothers and sister: Mrs. W. M. Milligan of Tower Hill, Mrs. John Lowe, Mrs. Joe GAtons and Mrs. Christine Murry of Lakewood, Mrs. John Beatty of Pana; John McConnell of Cowden, Thomas, George and Charles McConnell of Herrick.
Several years ago the deceased was united with the Christian Church. He was a thrifty hard working man, of a cheerful disposition and a kind neighbor.

Robertson, pastor of the Christian Church officating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Charles Forsyth, Mrs. John D. Miller and S. B. Carr. The pallbearers were Henry Downs, William Downs, E. Miller, Budd Miller, William H. Lumpp and Charles Forsyth. Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery.

Emma B. McConnell Dies Sunday
Emma B. McConnell, 89, a resident of Shelbyville, Ill for 65 years, passed away at her home Sunday, May 1, at 5:30 pm after a lingering illness of several years.
Mrs. McConnell was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Berry. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky in the year of 1866.
She was united in marriage to Boseil McConnell of Nokomis, Ill March 31, 1884. Mr. McConnell passed away Dec. 28, 1923.
She was a member of the Christian Church of Shelbyville where she attended as long as her health permitted.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Stella Weakly, Mrs. Sylvia Kircher and Mrs. G. C. Fader of Decatur, Ill; 2 sons, Lloyd and Lenoral of Shelbyville. One son, Leverett, passed away Dec. 26, 1954. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 14 great grand children.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3 at 2:30 pm at the Lockart & Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
