He is supposed to have 12 siblings, so there must be lots of McConnells related to this family.
In the 1830 census he was in Ohio since his children were born in Ohio. But no census record was found.

Another Barnett Miller, b. 1828 in Belmont, OH, also lived in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio. He was the son of Anthony Miller and Rebecca Groves. The very similar name and also the fact they lived in the same place, points to a connection. The name Caleb Miller was also in Belmont and was in the family of Robert Miller. These Millers were probably cousins and all of them probably came from Belmont County, Oho at an earlier date.
The correct Barnett Miller married Margaret Bulgur on August 29, 1839 in Tuscarawas County, OH. That date is too early a date to be a match for the other Barnett Miller who would have been only 11 in 1839. (The other Barnet Miller married Margaret Nausbaum in 1849 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio).
Barnett Miller is in the 1860 census in Monclova, Lucas Co., OH, age 45, b. PA, with a Sarah Miller, 46, b. NH. She is probably the daughter of the head of household, 80 year old David Preston. Joanna Miller, 19, b. OH is also listed and is probably the daughter of his previous wife, Margaret Bulgur. McConnell Miller also moved to Lucas County, Ohio.
1870 Census, Monclava Twp, Lucas Co., OH, age 56, b. PA, father was born in the U.S. and his mother was of foreign birth.
He had $1,300 in real estate and $500 in personal assets and his wife Sarah Miller had $1,000 in real estate. Sarah was 57, b. New Hampshire and living with them was her mother, 90 years old, b. in NH.
1880 Census, Thompson Twp, Geauga Co., OH, Sarah Miller, age 70, b. NH. Both parents were born New Hampshire. She was a widow.
