"An instrument of writing was produced to the court under the hand of George Matthews Esqr dated the 17th day of November 1778 whereon and whereby he did certify that Margaret McConnell and Alexander McConnell orphan children of John McConnell late of Hamilton Twp dec'd came before him and declared that they had nominated or chosen James Matthews and James Thorn as guardians. Viz James Matthews for Margaret McConnell and James Thorn for Alexander McConnell and desired that the same might be certified to the worshipful justices of the Orphan Court when sitting at Carlisle.
The court on consideration do appoint the afsd James Matthews guardian of the person and estate of the afsd Margaret McConnell and James Thorn guardian of the person and estate of the afsd Alexander McConnell. During their minority.
