William Butler, Elizabeth Butler's father, purchased land adjacent to Archibald McConnell in 1767.
He was a Revolutionary War soldier and was named in a pension in 1840 when he was living in Limestone Co., AL.
Iredell CO NC Deed Abstracts Books G & H 1809-1817 by Russell C. Black, the following is listed: Deed Book G, p. 87: Dated 6 Mar 1807. Wm McConnell to James Allison mcConnell. For the sum of $200, 100 acres lying on the waters of Rocky Creek, joining said Wm McConnell and Alexander McConnell. Signed Wm McConnell. Witness: Richardson White and John Cowden. proved Feb 1809. Registered 3 May 1809. James A. McConnell then sold 12 acres lying on Rocky Creek in 1809.
Per Jean Scneider the McConnells and Houstons may have moved together into North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Facts: 1) move to Overton Co, TN acc to family story. 2) 1813 May have been Overton Co. militia captain. 3) 1818 Purchased land Maury Co. TN on Duck River. 4) 1820 A James McConnell listed in 1820 census, Maury Co., 11 in household. 4) 1812 & 1813 A James McConnell on Maury Co. tax list.
