!EDUCATION:
Attended College at Bozeman, Montana & Hays College in Hays Kansas. She taught
school about 1916 in the same school she attended as a child. Later, she stayed
home to care for her mother Maria, and after Maria died she continued to care
for her father Charles. The School, that she taught in was New Hope country
school, in Rooks CO, Kansas.
!MARRIAGE:
Elsie, married Roy Calvin Snyder, whom she met while they were both attending
the Stockton Academy. They were married December 28, 1917 at Fort Riley, Ka,
where Roy was in Military training during World War I. Roy completed aprentice
training in pharmacy, and served in France in the Medical Corps, 89th Division,
as a medic. When he returned from the war, he and Elsie lived in Stockton where
Roy worked in a drug store. After living for brief periods in Columbus and
Pittsburg, Kansas, where Roy worked in a drug store, the family moved to the
Chamberlain homestead in the fall of 1926. Here three generations lived in the
homestead house together for twelve years. While working in the drug store in
Stockton, there was born to them Robert Roy; May 16, 1920; Kenton Lee, July 25,
1921; and Awyn Joyce and Margaret Phyllis, October 16, 1923. On the Homestead
were born two more children Lowell Emerick, October 15, 1932 and Glenna May,
January 24, 1937. Kenton died of dust pneumonia on February 11, 1936, during
the dust storm years. After the death of Charles, Elsie - Roy and her family
moved to Stockton.
!DIVORCE:
Elsie and Roy were divorced about 1949, and Elsie died in a Nursing Home in
Seguin, Texas April 17, 1962. (Her daughter Phyllis lived in Seguin at the
time) Elsie was buried in the Stockton Cemetery, near her son Kenton.
