On June 22, 1766, "Andrew McConnell and w. Mary of Ayr Twp, Cumberland Co. [sold land] to Henry Westbury and James Westbury of Colerain Twp (land belonged to "our father" William Burnside deceased)." Ref: Extract of Lancaster Co Deeds p 98 H-335-6-10-1766 tract in Colerain Twp.
In 1775 an Andrew McConnell was listed as a private in the company headed by Captain John Brisbane.
This happened in June 1776
"A few days after they killed Joshua House at the Upper Blue Licks, and took two daughters of Col. Callaway and one of Col. Boone at Boonesborough, and took two of Andrew McConnell's sons. It occasioned Arrowsmith and me to quit raising corn, and we went to Hinkston's settlement on South Licking. The explorers and us attempted to build a blockhouse. In a few days the Indians killed James Cooper and made several other attempts,
The twin sons of Andrew McConnell were captured by the Mingoes in June, 1776, at Leestown; they were recognized at the Shawnee towns by a trader, who purchased them from the Indians for a gun and brought them to Pittsburgh they were away about sixty days. Interview with their sister, Mrs. Ezekiel January in Draper interview, 11CC221. Note: I think the correct name for the sister was Mrs. Ephraim January, not Mrs. Ezekiel January.

From an account by Sarah (McConnell) January, his daughter
Andrew McConnell lived, for about 5 yrs. About 20 ms. above Pittsburgh; whh; was then the back woods, and very little settled. Forks of York. My f. had lived a little while in Pittsburgh; 1st, & left us behind there- to go to school, until he moved up the river, when he came and got us. The indns: {indians} haunted about Pittsburgh for a long time. I have wondered, sometimes, how they ever got it settled.
There was a land grant that was recorded on June 24, 1780, originally for 1,000 acres. However much of this was lost due to competing prior claims, so the acreage surveyed was 345 acres. The land was surveyed for Andrew McConnell's heirs on November 28, 1787. The land was sold on August 11, 1792 in Andrew McConnell's name, in Woodford Co., KY. The seal with the land was recorded on November 8, 1792. The chain bearers for the survey included Andrew McConnell's son, William Barber McConnell. Also a chain bearer was John Caseldine. William Barbar McConnell managed the pilot marker for the survey. The survey was done by James Stevenson and the survey was certified by William Steele.
On marker at Blue Licks State Park, Robertson County, KY. Per the marker he was born 1830, but this may not be correct.
Note: Died while fighting, with Daniel Boone, at the Battle of Blue Licks, the last battle of the Revolutionary War, August 19, 1782.
