Antrim Twp, Cumberland Co., PA made up most of Franklin County, PA. So the land purchased in 1741 was probably in Peters Twp, Cumberland Co., PA which was formed out of Antrim Twp.
James McConnell, Sr., wrote a will on January 17, 1776, available online through www.familysearch.org, Pennsylvania Probate Records, Will Books A-C, image number 291.
The will is in Will Book C, of Cumberland County Wills, page 29.
Per the West Cococheague Presbyterian Church, a James McConnell died March 27, 1776.
The will was proved on July 25, 1777.

January 17, 1776/5 June 1777, letters July 25, 1777.
Wife Mary received 1/3 of the estate, which would go to son James upon her death.
To daughter Margaret, $25 from remaining 2/3.
Eldest son James, an equal 1/7 of remaining 2/3.
Son William to receive 2/7 of remaining 2/3.
Son Francis to receive 1/7 of remaining 2/3.
Daughters Mary, Cidnaugh and Elizabeth each receive 1/7 of remaining 2/3.
Executors.: Mathew Wilson and John Work. Executors renounced right of exectorship in favor of sons William McConnell & Francis McConnell.
Witnesses: John Wilson, William Wilson, Allan Killough.
The letters of administration read:
"Be it remembered that on the twentyfifth Day of July 1777 Letters of Administration were granted to William and Francis McConnell of the Goods & Chattel to Rights & Credits which were of the Estate of James McConnell Deceased with a Copy of the Will of the deceased annexed, the executors therein named having renounced their right of Executorship and the Widow of the deceased having renounced her right of Administration of the said estate. Inventory & Acc't to be exhibited in the Time appointed by Law. John Creigh, Registrar"
