In 1880 he was a weighmaster living in Bucyrus, Crawford Co., OH, p. 340B. Both of his parents were from Ireland.
There seem to be no good leads to determine who his parents were. All that is known is that they were both from Ireland and they were in Pennsylvania in 1807 when Alexander was born. Alexander does seem to have a lot in common with Charles McConnell, son of Samuel McConnell who died in Carroll County in 1840. They both have both parents from Ireland that came from Pennsylvania at about the same time, they named a son Isaac on the same date, they moved from Richland Co., OH to Crawford Co., OH. Samuel left a will so we know Alexander McConnell was not a son of Samuel. But he may be the son of a brother, perhaps one who died early. There are more males in Samuel's family in the census than are accounted for in his will. Alexander McConnell, younger than all of Samuel's sons, matches the youngest male of that family.
Isaac, Alexander's son, disappeared after 1860 (as far as I know). He probably died but that is not known for certain.
