[29883] She was Letitia in the 1850 census, Susanna in the 1860 census. Possibly the same person since the birth dates are identical.

William B. McConnell
Spouse Name: Emma Vanercook
Marriage Date: 25 Nov 1879
Marriage County: Steuben
Source Title 1: Steuben County, Indiana
Source Title 2: Marriage Records Book A No. 1 - 6 1837 - 1899
Source Title 3: Public Library of Fort Wayne and Allen County 1969
The 1900 census showed her birthdate as June 1849. This is not at all similar to her death certificate, which says 6/25/1857. Probably the census is correct.
In 1860 she was listed as 12 years old. She is in the residence of William Cloud, a lumberman, and his wife Mary. Probably he mother had died and she was being cared for by this family. She is listed with a sister, Etta Vandercook, age 9.
Emma Vandercook is my great grandmother. She married William Barnet McConnell. He graduated from Notre Dame College in South Bend, Indiana and then studied law in Indianapolis where he was admitted to the
Indiana State Bar Association. He became an attorney for the Northern Pacific Railroad. His father George Washington McConnell was a doctor and congressman and seemed to have a connection with the Vanderbilts. The couple received a set of very ornate flatware from Vanderbilt as a wedding gift. In 1879 he was appointed by President Cleveland as an Associate Justice of the Dakota Territories. In 1885 he was appointed as the first Common Pleas Judge in Fargo. The couple moved to Fargo in 1879 the year they were married. My grandmother was born in 1881 and there were no other children.
Emma Vandercook McConnell was appointed to the Board of Lady Managers for the Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago representing North Dakota. She and my grandmother Eula McConnell Baumann lived in Chicago in a rooming house before and during the fair. Besides working for the opening of the exposition, they were keep busy with teas and luncheons. Mrs. Potter Palmer was the head of the lady managers and held receptions in her home. My grandmother was twelve years old and enjoyed telling me stories of the exposition. I have a cook book compiled by the Board of Lady Managers and Emma's picture is there and a recipe she donated as did all the other lady managers.
Eula had one child, my father, William McConnell Baumann. He married Winifred Rose and they had seven children -six girls and one boy. Carolyn Knuth Rick de.,Eula Baumann Gorman de., Winifred Baumann Clements, Reverend Albert Otto Baumann II, Susan Baumann Hanscel, Constance Baumann and Beth Baumann. I live in California: Al is in Toledo,Ohio, Sue in Fairport, NY, Connie in New York City and Beth in Columbus, Ohio. Sue and I were always talking about going to Rensselaer and looking up the Vandercooks but I have found them online.
The Vandercooks,McConnells, and Baumanns are buried in the McPherson Cemetery in Clyde, Ohio. Emmeline McPherson Vandercook was the sister of General James Birdeye McPherson the highest ranking northern officer killed in the Civil War. He died without issue and my grandmother was the only blood desendent. Much of our youth was spent in honoring McPherson. My father also an attorney represented the family while he was alive and now my brother does. My sister's, Carolyn and Eula and I helped with the ribbon cutting ceremonies at the dedication of the McPherson Highway in Fremont, Ohio when we were nine, eight and seven.
