His death certificate says he was born in Washington Co., PA. However, this may be because that is where his mother was from. The father was a student in Waynesburg College, so the descendants who say he was born in Greene County, PA are probably correct.

Judge McConnell was born in Greene County, Pennsylvania, November 15, 1849. He graduated from Waynesburg College, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He studied law under Judge Morris at Fort Wayne, Indiana, later he moved to the Dakota Territory. In 1886 he was appointed Supreme Court Justice of the Dakota Territory by President Grover Cleveland, he served until 1889. After statehood he became Judge of the Third Judicial District, 1889-1896. Judge McConnell died August 3, 1931 in Sandusky County, Ohio.

William McConnell, b. May 1850, OH, both parents were from Ireland. He and his wife had been married 22 years.
Emma (Vandercook) McConnell, b. June 1849, OH, both parents from Ohio. She had had two children and only one was living.

Fred Vandercook, father-in-law, b. Jan 1824, OH. Both parents were from New York.

In the 1870 census he was living in GreeneCo., PA, with the family of his wife, Sadie Buchanan, whom he marriedSept. 9, 1869.Sadie Buchanan McConnell died Sept. 23,1871. William B. McConnell, remarried on Nov. 25, 1879, in Angola, Steuben Co., IN. At that time he was practicing law in Fargo, D.T. Many of Sadie Buchanan's relatives and William's uncle, R. A. McConnell, travelled from Greene Co., PA, and attended his wedding.I would like to learn who his second wifewas and who his parents were. Where he is buried. William Barnet McConnell (son of Dr. George W. McConnell and Eliza Bonar) was born on 15 November 1849 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was educated in 1867 in Waynesburg College, Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He lost his first wife Sadie to disease on 23 September 1871 in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania He died from on 4 August 1931 in Fremont, Sandusky County, Ohio. His obituary appeared in the on 5 August 1931. He was buried on 6 August 1931 in McPherson Cemetery, Clyde, Sandusky County, Ohio. He was a judge and lawyer.
