Unidella, New York - to near Williamsport, PA. Two of Jacob's children,
went to Illinois in 1862. Jane Bumgardner, her husband, Selah Chamberlain, and
their family along with John F. Bumgardner, his wife Elizabeth (Spiegel)
Bumgardner, and their baby daughter Nettie came and settled about four miles
west and north of Herrick. About 1855 John F. worked in a mine in Pana for one
year, then he moved to a log house just north of the present house site. He
bought the present houseplace in 1900. John F and his wife had nine children;
Nettie married W Whittington; they were parents of Betty Jenkins in addition to
Nettie's four step children, Mol-- Corley, Maude Nance, Austy, and Heck
Whittington. Grant and Charles were bachelors, Frona married C Price, had one
child who died as an infant. Ella married Sell Price; they were parents of
Emmagene Williams and Wendell. John Ervan married Mary Hunter; they were
parents of Marjorie Black Burrus; Rochelle Hen--- Rejina Miller Brown; and
Charles. Bert married M--- Miller; they were parents of Silver Horsman; Faythe
Sarver Cochran, John S., and Jerry Lee who married Margaret Whittington. Otto
married Frankie Wren; their children are Magnolia, Elizabeth, Frona, Carl, and
Billie. David died in infancy. At the death of John F. in 1914, the land was
acquired by Bert Bumgardner; Bert's son John acquired the homesite in 1971.
!John S. Bumgardner married Barbara M. Cherry daughter of James H. and Clara
(Simpson) Cherry. They are parents of Cherry Ann Day; Roger who married Scheri
Cox and has sons, Steven and Jason; G. Donn; Sue who married Charles James and
has children, Andrew, Minerva, and Elizabeth; and John Mark who lives in
Decatur.
